The Mass Communication Department Offers a Workshop on the Role, Tasks and Skills of a Public Relations Employee

On Monday, 21 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1441 A.H., the Media Club of the Mass Communication Department at the UQU College of Social Sciences held a workshop on the role, tasks and skills of a public relations employee. It was presented by coach Fares Al-Jafri, President of the Media Club at the Events Hall, at the College of Social Sciences.

He talked about public relations, its objectives, principles, practices and the necessary skills for the public relations employee, and also about the management of public relations and the crises they face, in addition to the difference between stereotypes and mental images. Al-Jafri also mentioned that “public relations” is based on several sciences, including sociology, psychology, science of management, and economics.

At the end of the session, Dr. Faisal Al-Shamiri commented on the difference between stereotypes and mental images. He said that stereotypes are the common and previously known images of people, whether negative or positive. They are difficult to change with regard institutions unless they are changed and corrected by the representatives of this institution.

The mental image is the image that takes root in people's minds about the facility. The workshop also witnessed an honorable attendance, which included students of the Mass Communication Department, students of other departments and colleges, in addition to those from outside the university.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Faisal Al-Shamiri, Professor of Mass Communication at the Department, honored coach Faris Al-Jafri with a commemorative shield, and thanked him for the benefits he gave the audience.
