His Excellency UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Meets QS World University Rankings Team

His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab bin Abdullah Al-Resini, on Tuesday, 22 Rabi` Al-Awwal 1441 A.H., met with representatives of the QS World University Rankings organization. Dr. Al-Resini gave an overview of the history of Umm Al-Qura University, its colleges, areas of specializations, achievements, and pioneering and research projects it has carried out. He stressed that Umm Al-Qura University is keen to take all measures to raise its ranking, at all levels. He added that the university pays great attention to scientific research and education, and that it seeks to encourage its researchers to conduct distinguished high-impact scientific research and to publish them in international journals. He explained that the university is working to develop the educational environment to comply with standards and classifications of a global nature, and emphasized that it also seeks to build an educational system based on excellence and creativity, in accordance with national and international standards and classifications.

On his part, the QS representative praised Umm Al-Qura University for its advanced research and academic level, the scientific and educational status it enjoys, and the fact that it keeps abreast of modern developments and technologies in various fields. He mentioned the QS ranking criteria and their importance, and the main factors for ranking and its functions, noting that the QS World University Rankings is an annual ranking of universities. He added that QS ranking is one of the top three university rankings in the world, in terms of importance and impact.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency the Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad bin Shukri bin Ibrahim Al-Sufi, His Excellency the Dean of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Sulaiman bin Ahmad Al-Saeed, and the Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Mubarak Al-Lihaibi.

The visit comes in line with the university strategic objectives of strengthening its presence, locally and globally.
