President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas attended on Sunday, Rabi' Al Awwal 26 a ceremony marking launch of the Arabic translation of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).
The ceremony was attended by Dean of Institute of Arabic Language for Non-native Speakers Dr. Hassan Bukhari, Dr. Abdel Naser Othman Saber who translated the book and Institute Expert Dr. Omar Al Seddiq who reviewed the translated edition.
The president praised efforts exerted in translation, saying the specialized translation takes its first steps and the initiatives pave the way for non-native students. The translated edition comprises of nine chapters and four appendices.
It is an important addition for any library in the Arab countries and the world, Dr. Assas said, highlighting scientific and intellectual homogeneity that brought team members together.
In the same context, Dr. Bukhari said the translation was licensed by the Modern Languages of the Council of Europe. Under this approval, an Arabic vision would be available on the council's website, he said, noting: The Council of Europe is the continent's leading human rights organization that has 47 member states, including 27 EU members.
Dr. Bukhari thanked UQU President for supporting the institute and its publications.
