Out of its social responsibility, the Department of Chemistry at the College of Applied Sciences conducted a humanitarian visit to the Social Care Home in Makkah Al-Mukarramah on Wednesday, 16 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1441 A.H., with the participation of a distinguished group of students from the department along with Mr. Majid Al-Da`di. The aim of the visit was to bring happiness and delight to the elderly people, and bring optimism to their hearts. They were received by Mr. Majdi Abdullah Al-Thaqafi, the director of the Social Care Home, and a group of employees.

This visit aimed at communicating with a group dear to our hearts, who contributed during a period of their life in bringing up the recent generation and forming families; promoting contacts with this category who are living now on their memories; and reviving their active role and what they left of evident effects during their lifetime.

The visitors distributed souvenirs that showed the love of the community for those elderly persons, and their status in the hearts of all people. This visit had an effective impact on the residents of the Social Care Home, which made them regard this occasion as a family visit.

This event was part of the social activities of the department, aiming to make the students notice the good impact of this visit on the residents of the Social Care Home. Moreover, this visit strengthened the bonds of affection and love among the individuals of the community. It also showed the role of the Saudi government and its great care of the elderly, and the well-furnished social centers it provides to make them feel part of a family.
