On Wednesday, Rabi’ al-awwal 22, 1438H, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, Dean of Student Affairs, sponsored the final match of the UQU President Cup for Futsal for students in its third edition, on behalf of Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, the UQU President. The match was held between the team of the University College in Al-Qunfudhah and the team of the College of Education in Makkah. Held on Al-Abidiyah campus, the game was attended by the deputies of the two colleges, the vice-deans of the Deanship of Student Affairs (the organizer of the championship), and a number of officials.

The game has witnessed a remarkable performance from the two teams, and ended with the win of the team of the University College in Al-Qunfudhah (6-4) by kicks from the penalty shoot-out, after they drew (3-3) in the 90 minutes regular play and the extra time.

At the end of the game, Dr. Al-Saqqaf declared the winning team the champions, and presented to them the championship’s cup and the golden medals, while the team of the College of Education in Makkah received the silver medals, and the bronze medals went to the teams of the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture in Makkah, and the College of Science in Makkah.

In addition, the contributors to the championship was honored for their role in the success of the championship. Also, the player Ibrahim Al-Qarni from the team of the University College in Al-Qunfudhah was honored as the best player in the championship. Photos were taken during these events.

On his part, Dr. Al-Saqqaf congratulated the winning team and stated that the game was filled with excitement and rivalry between the two teams. He also declared that 23 colleges from the university have participated in the championship. And he noted that this is the first time for all the university branches in Al-Jamoum, Al-Laith, Al-Qunfudhah and Adhm to participate in the championship that lasted for 1 month.

Furthermore, Dr. Al-Saqqaf stated that the winning team will represent the university in the championship of the Sports Federation for Saudi Universities, which will be held in the beginning of next Jumada al-awwal. In addition, he mentioned that during the 2 halves of the game, the futsal of the faculty members and university staff has been launched in its 10^th edition, and will start in the beginning of the second semester. And he added that the UQU President Cup Championship for colleges, health and scientific institutes, and university branches in grass stadiums has also been launched.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Al-Saqqaf praised the support of Dr. Bakri bin Maatouq Assas, the UQU President, to the activities and programs presented by the UQU Deanship of Student Affairs to serve the students. He also exalted the efforts of the Department of Sports Activities represented by Dr. Omar bin Siraj Sunbul, the Vice Dean for Activities and Student Training and his colleagues at the department.
