Participants in First Scientific Research Forum Thank Wise Leadership

At the conclusion of their work, the participants in First Scientific Research Forum which was organized by UQU Deanship of Scientific Research on 20th -21st Rabi'I 1438H at King Abdulaziz Historical Hall, Abediyah Campus (Male Section) and Al-Jawhara Hall (Female Section) extended their deep thanks and gratitude to HRH King Slman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, his honest Crown Prince and Deputy Crown Prince, May Allah Save Them!, for their continuous support for science and education and their unending instructions to the promotion of scientific research in such generous homeland.

During their final session of the forum, and in the presence of the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, and UQU Vice-Presidents, the participants in the forum recommended that the average of spending on scientific research should be raised in order for it to keep pace with the global average.

This would be achieved through motivation of the private sector to contribute in scientific research support, and promotion of the culture, advantages and benefits of research groups to reinforce various knowledge-based productions. In addition, efforts should be united in order to establish a national database for researchers in different specializations. Moreover, the quality level of UQU scientific magazines should be raised according to the standards of NCAAA.

The participants also demanded that the supported objectives of the research groups should be in accordance with the objectives of the National Transformation Program 2030. This should be fulfilled in education development, job creation, the achievement of community and research partnerships with the private sector, as well as the preparation of a database for UQU researchers to identify research priorities.  

The participants also recommended that it was necessary to form a local committee on scientific research ethics accompanied by an electronic system to set the accountabilities of all UQU affiliates.

It was also crucial that research centers' position should be reinforced in front of decision makers through the preparation of strategies that support national and local researches. Moreover, the culture of research chairs' significance to attract the support of businessmen and private sectors.

The Participants saw the necessity of directing researchers to tackle related social issues, present solutions and assess practices. It was also important to form a unit to follow up research groups in order to guarantee works' quality and continuity.

Moreover, Plagiarism Checker Program should be provided to all staff members. In addition, UQU should concentrate on the support of researches that ended with (marketable products, research services, conduct reformation, training and qualification).

At the end of their statement, the participants expressed their thanks and gratitude to Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad al-Eisa, Minister of Education, for his support for the research journey in Saudi universities in general and in UQU in specific.

They also thanked the President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), Dr. Bakri bin Maatooq Assas, Dr. Thamer bin Hamdan al-Harbi, Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Abdulrahman al-Ahdal, Dean of Scientific Research, and the Deanship's  vice deans for their perfect organization of such forum.

The participants concluded the session with a supplication to Allah that He would grant everyone His guidance for the service of such homeland and the nationals thereof.
