Continuing its efforts in transferring experiences and achieving inter-generational communication, Umm Al-Qura University has been keen to attract its graduates to give lectures and workshops, with the aim of transferring their expertise and experience to current generations.

In this context, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, College of Applied Medical Sciences, in cooperation with the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, organized a workshop aimed at developing the skills of department faculty members, and spreading awareness of the ways and methods of evaluation used by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.

The workshop, which was held recently at the college headquarters, aimed to introduce students to ways of designing their test questions, and developing the questions system in the college, in order to train students on the applied question system in their disciplines, and prepare them for the post-graduation stage.

Dr. Ayman Al-Saigh, Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences, stated that the program is supported by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality in coordination with the Deanship for Training, and under the supervision of Dr. Hani Ghazi, the Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Fadi Munshi, Director of the Evaluation Center at the Saudi Commission for Medical Specialties, who is a graduate of Umm Al-Qura University, and Dr. Hossam Yousef, the General Supervisor of the Knowledge Assessment Section at the Authority, who is a graduate of King Saud University.

The University Vice Dean for Development and the Quality of Training, and the Supervisor of the Alumni Unit, Dr. Sa`id Kabra, stated that the delivery of these workshops is not only reflected in the development of the skills of the faculty members. It also serves to prepare college students for specialized tests after graduation, and prepare them for the labor market in an accurate and integrated way. He stressed that the provision of training programs within the university by the university's distinguished graduates in all fields of work comes from the belief of the Alumni Unit of the importance of communicating with them, and taking pride in their achievements. Thus, the college is proud of them and is happy to benefit from their experiences in the development of academic staff at the university.

Dr. Kabra explained that the unit worked to attract other groups of graduates to provide training programs for university students in order to instruct them on the fields of work after graduation, and develop their skills to meet the needs of the labor market and the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.

He added that the workshop is an introduction to a series of specialized workshops for medical and health colleges, in coordination with the Deanship represented by the Alumni Unit and the Vice Deanship for Training, and colleges, to attract the major specialization employees of university graduates to increase their loyalty to the university environment, and promote community partnerships.
