Seventy Experts Create Innovative Ideas for the UQU Student Competitions

Umm Al-Qura University, through the Deanship of Student Affairs, has transformed the traditional ideas for running scientific and research competitions used in the past into a renewable industry. The objectives of this endeavor are to develop the ideas of such competitions, nurture the talents of the students, and use their potentials in creative ways, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. Based on this, a brainstorming workshop was held yesterday and today in order to develop the 11th Scientific Forum Competitions held for students and the 4th University Role Model Competition. The workshop witnessed the participation of 40 male and female judges from different colleges, and 120 male and female coordinators from the university colleges. The event was attended by the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Suruji, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Omar Sunbul, and several vice deans.

The Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Talal bin Muthanna, clarified that the aim of this brainstorming workshop was to develop and come up with new ideas, which are original and different from previous ones. He also hinted at the success that has been achieved by this scientific forum⁠, all praises and thanks be to Allah, over the course of the past ten years through the participation of university students from various disciplines. He said that this year the target was to provide a renewed version of this forum that keeps pace with the aspirations and objectives of the university and at the same time can help refine the talents and experiences of university students in the various fields of scientific, research, and cultural activities. Finally, he pointed out that the 10th Scientific Forum involved the participation of more than 3000 male and female students from the different colleges of the university. In addition, the ideas used in the University Role Model competition, which has been held over the past three years, were renovated and developed by the participation in the Makkah Cultural Forum, "How to Be a Role Model?".

On his part, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Omar Sunbul, emphasized the of the present scientific forum, in terms of both numbers and participants, indicating that the deanship seeks to come up with novel and advanced ideas that keep pace with the aspirations and objectives of the university and its deanship. The most important aim and idea is to enable the students to realize their potentials. Finally, he highlighted the support and attention received by all programs and activities of the deanship from His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, and the Vice President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Suruji.
