Members of the Advisory Board of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Chair for Studies on the History of Makkah Al-Mukarramah at Umm Al-Qura University discussed eleven topics related to the work plan of the chair during the coming three years. These topics were discussed during the meeting headed by His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, at his office in Al-Abdiyyah. The meeting was attended by His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Samari, the Counselor at the Royal Court and the Commissioned Secretary General of King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahhab Al-Resini, and members of the chair advisory board.
His Excellency the President of the University, the Head of the Chair Advisory Board, welcomed His Excellency Dr. Fahd Al-Samari and the members of the board at Umm Al-Qura University. He also praised the support and care of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah protect him) of the chair and its work that pays great attention to the documentation of the history of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, the sacred rituals, and the architecture of the Two Holy Mosques.
His Excellency stressed the partnership between the university and King Abdulaziz Foundation that contributed greatly in preparing specialized academic research on the history of the Prophet's biography, and the care of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of the architecture of the Two Holy Mosques and the Sacred Sites. The academic research papers were reviewed and published by specialized persons at the university and King Abdulaziz Foundation. He wished to work on developing ideas and preparing work plans during the coming period that suit the status of the sponsor of the chair.
Dr. Fahd Al-Samari, a member at the advisory board, stated that the early period of the work of the chair was known for its distinction in its research and administration of cultural seminars in which historians all over the world participated. He praised the support of Umm Al-Qura University towards the activities of the chair, and stressed that qualitative programs should be introduced directly to young men during the coming period of the work of the chair. He hoped that the chair teamwork may permit university students to participate and make use of their efforts in order to create qualitative work for young men.
The Chair Professor, Dr. Abdullah Al-Sharif, pointed out that the vision that the chair seeks to achieve include the continuity of scientific research, scientific publishing and translation, motivation of youth and postgraduate study students to do their best in scientific research and learning historical knowledge, help in spreading social awareness, and protection of the historical identity of Makkah Al-Mukarramah. He indicated that nine research projects, which are now at the reviewing and publishing stages, have been conducted. The compilations composed by the chair exceeded 21 books and 55 scientific research papers.
