The female section at Al-Zahir Campus, Umm Al-Qura University, continues the activities celebrating the 89th National Day on Thursday. These activities took place in honor of Her Excellency, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli, the Vice President of Umm Al-Qura University for Female Student Affairs.
The activities included an Arabian horse show by a horsewoman who astonished the audience with her skills. The activity was received with great admiration from the attendants, who watched the show that was accompanied with national songs.
Dr. Amal Sindi, Vice Dean of Student Affairs for Direction, Guidance and Community Partnership, clarified that the song "Abiyyah", which entails calling King Abdulaziz's horse, was chosen to be played when the horse and horsewoman entered the arena. She indicated that the idea of bringing this horse initially originated at the meeting held with female students in order to come up with a unique idea that could contribute in bringing happiness to the female students on the occasion of the National Day.
She explained that she agreed on this idea because of the fact that Arabian horses are part of the heritage of the Saudi Kingdom, and something that the kingdom is proud of. She expressed her happiness with the success of the show, especially as the female students asked the horse and the horsewoman to return after they had left the arena at the end of the show.
Employees in security administration participated in a show displaying the culture of certain areas in the kingdom. Shows were distributed over five gates at the university, and traditional clothes were displayed at many places. The colleges and all the departments and branches of the university held similar activities. Flags, gifts, flowers and various meals were distributed among the attendants. National songs were played everywhere to celebrate this precious anniversary.
On her part, the Vice President for Female Students Affairs, Her Excellency Dr. Sarah bint Umar Al-Khuli, expressed her congratulations to the wise leadership of the Saudi Kingdom, and declared her happiness on the occasion of the National Day. She asserted that celebrating the National Day was a renewal of loyalty, and an inculcation of the principles of ambitious determination in the souls of the people of this great and generous country during the era of prosperity, furthering the value of development under the patronage of our wise leadership.
She added that people feel on this great day the delight and glory of belonging to this country, as this national event reminds them of their history of the struggle, determination and resolution that King Abdulaziz (may Allah be merciful to him) exhibited in unifying this country while carrying the banner of monotheism. Thus, he made this country the cradle for secure and safe life.
