The UQU Vice President, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, launched the activities of the World First Aid Day at the University Medical Center in the presence of the Director General of the University Medical Center, Dr. Yassir Bahakim, the Medical Director, Dr. Aziza Turkistani, and the Head of the Public Health Unit, Dr. Khadija Al-Jawhari.
The Vice President visited the awareness corner prepared for the event, and praised this step through which the therapeutic and preventive role of the University Medical Center is highlighted. He also stressed the importance of actively participating in awareness-raising activities that will promote health awareness among all segments of the society.
The Director General of the University Medical Center, Dr. Yassir Bahakim, said that the University Medical Center is carrying out its preventive role by providing the best awareness and educational messages through the celebration of world days in order to promote health awareness among the visiting patients in particular, and the community in general. He pointed out that one of the objectives of the event was to raise awareness about the importance of first aid in saving lives and encouraging the learning of first aid, in addition to explaining the contents of the first aid kit and how to use them. Finally, Dr. Yassir expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, for his keenness coupled with his encouragement to establish such awareness activities, and the great support and attention enjoyed by the University Medical Center. He also thanked the Vice President, Prof. Farid Al-Ghamdi, for launching this awareness promotion activity.
