The Vice Deanship for Postgraduate Studies Holds a Workshop to Discuss Research and Innovation Initiatives

Yesterday, the UQU Vice Deanship for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research held an interactive workshop to discuss the ways of developing the scientific research and innovation system, in line with the global classifications of scientific research as well as the initiatives of the 'Vision' program launched by the Ministry of Education. The Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Resini, attended the workshop, and a selection of deans and officials of the university participated in the event.

Prof. Abdul-Wahab Al-Rasini, UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, explained that this workshop is one of the initiatives of the deanship which are focused on the establishment and development of strategic plans for scientific research and innovation. He added that the aim of the workshop is to gather specialists from inside and outside the university to come up with innovative ideas that contribute to developing tools for scientific research and innovation.

The Head of the Strategic Team for the Empowerment Plan "Tamkeen 2023", Dr. Ayman Johargy, delivered a detailed presentation on the vision and main themes of the Tamkeen Strategic Plan which Umm Al-Qura University will follow during the next five years to develop the scientific, research, and community environment. He outlined the most important items and initiatives that have been approved and will contribute to boosting the knowledge economy, and provide a sustainable scientific environment.

Additionally, the Deputy General Supervisor of the Initiatives Management and Vision Realization Office, Dr. Faisal Barwais, gave a presentation that reflected the orientation of the 'Vision' program undertaken by the Ministry of Education in terms of research, innovation, and postgraduate studies, and the practical role of Umm Al-Qura University in coming up with specific initiatives that contribute to enriching the research and innovation environment.

Dr. Salih Ahmad, Head of the International Cooperation Unit, explained the standards and criteria of global classification in the field of scientific research, innovation, and postgraduate studies. He also clarified the working mechanism of the most important approved global classifications, and how to measure data and statistics for universities around the world.

The workshop witnessed the participation of several university entities, such as the Deanship of Scientific Research, the Deanship of Postgraduate Studies, the Deanship of Library Affairs, the Secretariat of the Scientific Council, the Institute of Manuscripts, and the Scholarships Office.
