The University President Receives the First Issue of the Osol Journal

This evening, His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, received the first issue of the Osol Journal, issued by the Saudi Scholarly Society for the Principles of Jurisprudence and Shari`ah Objectives, which is affiliated to the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies. This took place during the Society's delegation visit to His Excellency, in the presence of Dr. Ali Al-Hakami, a former member of the Council of Senior Scholars and the Chairman of the Board of the Society, Prof. Ghazi Al-Utaibi, Secretary of the Society and Editor-in-Chief of the Osol Journal, Prof. Arif Al-Rikabi, the Managing Editor of the Journal, and Dr. Ra'id Al-Usaimi, the Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies.

During the meeting, the UQU President was briefed on the activities of the Society in a number of Saudi universities. The peer-reviewed Osol Journal specializes in research and studies on the principles of jurisprudence and Shari`ah objectives. The members of its advisory and editorial bodies are elite scholars and specialists. All the published research is submitted to a distinguished academic referee.

The Dean of the College of Shari`ah, Dr Ra'id Al-Usaimi, pointed out that the first issue of the Osol Journal was published a number of days ago. The UQU Academic Council has adopted the published research of its first issue in the academic promotions. It is considered, by the will of Allah, a distinctive addition to the record of achievements of the UQU College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies and in the course of this university in the service of scientific research, researchers, and Shari`ah sciences.

His Excellency the UQU President also praised the efforts of the Society and its legal academic activity, stressing the role of Umm Al-Qura University in the service of the sciences of Shari`ah according to the specificity of the place in which it was established, and the keenness of the university administration to highlight this role. He also noted the need to expand the publication of the journal's content at the local and international levels.
