The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties renewed, for the next four years, the accreditation of the Dental Teaching Hospital at the UQU College of Dentistry, which is a certified training center for the Saudi Fellowship in Periodontal Diseases and Surgery. This renewal took place after a visit paid by the commission to explore the training mechanism, and check conformity with the medical accreditation requirements and standards.
The Dental Teaching Hospital is considered one of the most advanced centers in the field of dentistry. Over the last five years, it has provided care to more than 17 thousand patients, of all ages. It contains 75 dental clinics.
Dr. Salwa Dahlawi, Supervisor of the Saudi Board Training Program in Dental Practice and Surgery at the University, said that the renewal is the culmination of continuous and diligent efforts. It clearly serves to reflect the high professional and academic level of the medical staff at the college, under the leadership of an expert team of consultants and professors.
The Vice Dean of the College of Dentistry for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Mash`il Al-Qahtani, stressed the importance of the accreditation in supporting the series of achievements that have been accomplished by the college during the past year, including passing the test of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties with a score of 100% and maintaining its excellence over the past three successive years.
On his part, His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, praised this renewal of the accreditation. Moreover, he highlighted the support and care extended by the country's wise leadership towards Umm Al-Qura University, as well as the follow-up and interest shown by His Excellency Dr. Hamad Al Al-Sheikh, the Minister of Education, to elevate the University to the ranks of international universities.
