His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, today launched the World Encyclopedia of Qur'anic Guidance, which is the first of its type in the world. It is affiliated to the Chair of Qur'anic Guidance at the Deanship of Scientific Research. The goal of this work is to disseminate and inform people all over the world about the Qur'anic guidance. The president launched the encyclopedia at King Abdulaziz Support Hall in the presence of vice presidents and a number of the deans of different colleges and deanships.

His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, praised the international dimension of the Encyclopedia of Qur'anic Guidance: attracting 25 universities around the world to participate in forming the content of the encyclopedia. He commended the important role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving Qur'an and disseminating its different sciences all over the world. This role is promoted by the merits of the location of Umm Al-Qura University, which has the honor of being the place where the Qur'an was revealed.

The Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Ahdal, indicated that the outcomes and achievements of the World Encyclopedia are expected to fill 60 scientific volumes. Each volume deals with a certain part of the Qur'an, and about 200 thousand Qur'anic words of guidance will be derived, after examining what had been previously written of guidance. This will help in graduating 60 researchers from 30 different nationalities who are specialized in spreading Qur'anic guidance all over the world.

On his part, the Chair Professor of Qur'anic Guidance, Prof. Yahia Zamzami, pointed out that the outcomes of the World Encyclopedia will not be confined to printing academic dissertations, but practical applications will be given to make use of the achievements of the encyclopedia in a practical way. Moreover, a special diploma will be held for Qur'anic guidance, in addition to training and recreational products concerned with conveying Qur'anic guidance to families and children.
