One hundred specialists and experts in different disciplines in Umm Al-Qura University will work tomorrow, Thursday, on the redevelopment of the general curricula of UQU during "The Development of the General Curricula of UQU according to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030" workshop, organized by UQU Vice Presidency for Educational Affairs in cooperation with the Institute of Consulting Research and Studies and the team of the strategic plan, public relations and media center. The workshop will be held in the presence of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Abdullah Bafail, and UQU's vice presidents, deans of the colleges and their vice deans, members of the Permanent Higher Committee for Curricula, the students and graduates, and a number of employers, in (Lailaty) Hall in Four Points Hotel, in Al-Aziziyyah.
His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University stressed that the aim of the workshop is to develop and introduce new curricula that are in line with the principles of the Saudi Vision 2030 and the aspirations of the Ministry of Education in reconsidering the university requirements in terms of the names and contents of the curricula.
The UQU Vice-President for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdul-Aziz Suruji, stated that four surveys had been prepared, in which about (5000) persons, representing "male and female academic staff, students and graduates, in addition to the employers", participated. The surveys will be reviewed, then analyzed, and their most prominent outputs will be highlighted.
He pointed out that focus will be on a number of topics that are in line with the Saudi Vision 2030, and to learn the required basic skills that the graduates should have, in a manner that achieves the objectives of the vision and the plan of UQU, and fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Arabian Qualifications Framework (SAQF).
The workshop comes within the framework of the "National Transformation Program 2020" with regard to the duties of the universities, which depend on the transmission of knowledge and technologies, innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship, research, multi-discipline development, entrepreneurial training, and the National Personality Strengthening program. During the workshop, two basic sessions will be held in which the most important themes, as well as the results of the surveys, the analyses, and the recommendations, will be presented.
