The UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Hani Ghazi, stressed the importance of training and qualifying more than 500 leaders of the university staff during the academic year 1439–1440 A.H. He explained that all training programs aimed at helping the leader overcome the difficulties that he may encounter in his administrative work, introducing new management sciences and arts, and creating new ideas that help to develop and improve the university's work environment in line with its strategic plan and the Saudi Vision of 2030.

He pointed out that all the training packages were designed and developed according to the requirements and challenges faced by the leader in the university education institutions. This was the result of the full support given by His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, President of the University, in accordance with the plan of the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship represented by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, specifically the Vice Deanship of Training. The deanship managed to prepare university leaders for the next stage by preparing them to implement and follow the progress of the projects for the strategic plan of the university (Tamkeen 2023).

He added that the Vice Deanship of Training, under the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, presented several distinguished training programs in various aspects of leadership and management for all the staff of the university during the academic year 1439–1440 A.H., and benefited approximately 300 beneficiaries.

Dr. Hani Ghazi indicated that during the academic year 1441–1442 A.H., the program of training courses will be completed, Allah willing, after His Excellency the President of the University approves to implement the plan of the UQU Vice Presidency for Development and Entrepreneurship, represented by the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality, to train more than 100 heads and deputy heads of departments in the "Effective Leader" program, which was designed according to the challenges related to their job duties. Studies are being currently conducted to choose the body that will implement the program with the specifications and high standards that will help achieve its desired goal.

Effective Leader Program

Dr. Hani explained that during the next two weeks, 100 vice deans of colleges or institutes will be trained, Allah willing, on the "Effective Academic Leader" program. The program aims to improve leadership and management skills, and is designed to suit the needs and aspirations of the university. For the first time, the program's approach will entail providing information, enhancing skills, as well as conveying experiences, relying on various methods. For this reason, certificates will be provided by the donor because the program's content is comprehensive and distinguished, meeting the needs of the university and being based on the actual needs of the academic community. The program was developed after comparing case studies of five different examples from different international institutions in the field of education.
