Within the framework of the health awareness program, the Jamoum University College held an educative lecture entitled, 'Energy Drinks and Their Impact on the Human Body', which was delivered by the Assistant Professor of Physiology and the Function of Stem Cells, Her Excellency Dr. Samah Abdul-Aali Al-Harbi, at the UQU College of Medicine. The lecture was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 20 Rajab, 1440 A.H.
At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Samah introduced energy drinks and their components, and mentioned the brands that are consumed the most by the students, according to a study conducted for this purpose. Dr. Samah also outlined the harms caused by energy drinks to the different systems in the body, including the nervous and digestive systems, blood circulation, etc., which may even lead to death.
At the end of the lecture, Dr. Samah advised the female students to avoid consuming these drinks to stay up late or to study for long periods, which often is the case during exam periods. She also advised them to follow a balanced diet to gain energy.
