On Sunday, November 6th, 2016, Dr. Bakri ibn Ma’atuq A’asas, the Umm Al-Qura University president, opened the symposium, organized by the Scientific Research Deanship at the University. The Symposium aims at discussing the research projects priorities on the “Patients’ Safety” field. The Symposium took place at the King Abdul-Aziz supporting hall in Ala’abdiah for the male attendance; and at the Jawharah hall at the female students’ building for the female attendance. Present were Dr. Abdul-Rahman Ala’ahdl; the Scientific Research dean, Dr. Anmar Nasser; the Medicine College dean, the Scientific Research vice deanships and researchers and specialists on this field.
Still, the Symposium got started with recitation out of the holy Quran, and then Dr. Abdul-Rahman Ala’ahadal, the Scientific Research dean, delivered a speech welcoming the University President and the attendance. He went on to underline that this Symposium organized by the Scientific Research Deanship tackles the “Patients’ Safety” in light of the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision. He similarly pointed out that the Deanship seeks to throw its weight around as a body interested in the scientific research at this University. He further extended his thanks and gratitude to the University President for supporting the Deanship; in order to boost its role and fulfill its objectives to that regard.
Afterwards, Dr. Bakri gave a speech in which he stressed on the importance of the scientific research role in advancing societies and peoples. Likewise, he underlined that supported by its officials and the Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmed ibn Mohammed Ala’aisa , the Umm Al-Qura University lends this aspect great importance, highlighting its societal and national role.
Dr. Bakri added that “the Umm Al-Qura University began to reap the results of the scientific research role in the form of patents that have been materialized to products and services, contributing to the economic knowledge, which our prudent government lends it all its interest. He also wished the Scientific Research Deanship and the attendance success and support.
Later, Dr. Sumaiah Hariri presented an overview about the Symposium. Then, Dr. Suail Bajamal tackled the “Patients’ Safety… Significance and Pivots from a Scientific Perspective”. Similarly, Dr. Majid Almaghrabi took part in the Symposium with a lecture titled “Patients’ Safety in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia… Challenges and Priorities”.
By the same token, Dr. Abdul-Rahman, the Scientific Research dean, touched upon ways of the Scientific Research Deanship boosting the health sector in the patients’ safety field.
The Symposium concluded with an open discussion among participants and exchanging ideas among work teams, and then work teams’ interventions.
