Today, during the first meeting of the Institute's Advisory Committee, Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the Higher Institute for Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil, launched the Higher Diploma in Intellectual Security and Shari`ah-Based Guidance. The diploma was inaugurated by the UQU President, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, at the Institute's headquarters in Al-Aziziyyah.
Registration in this diploma is scheduled to start from the next academic year 1440-1441 A.H. In this context, His Excellency stressed the importance of acting according to the ethics and morals of Shari`ah and transmitting them to the countries of the Islamic world, to be held up as a bastion of stability and security. He assured that we possess the knowledge needed by Muslims today, and that it is our duty to protect them by publishing the teachings and ethics of Islam, while adopting a clear methodology and highly efficient strategies. He also emphasized his support for the programs and development plans of the institute, which are in harmony with the overall vision and goals of the university that essentially emanate from the Saudi 2030 vision.
His Eminence the Dean of the Higher Institute, Dr. Abdul-Wahhab bin Abdullah bin Salih Al-Risaini, said that the aim of forming the Institute's Advisory Committee was to contribute to the service of the community and scientific research, noting that the institute was established by a royal order to serve this blessed duty. For this end, the committee was formed of both civilian and military sectors concerned with enjoining good and forbidding evil, as well as a third sector, and the training and development sectors of the institute.
He indicated that the program will start receiving the students who wish to be admitted in the Higher Diploma Program for Intellectual Security and Shari`ah-Based Guidance as of next year. The program has been prepared by the Ministry of Civil Service and comprises 26 class hours dealing with a number of themes in the Qur'an and Sunnah, and some creedal issues related to intellectual security matters. This is in addition to the media and the role of the Saudi Kingdom in enhancing intellectual security, communication skills, a balanced way of life, Islamic moderation, human rights in Islam, and psychological and social security.
The institute offers a number of educational, training, and development programs. The Dean of the Institute appreciated the keenness of His Excellency the UQU President to attend the meeting of the Institute's Advisory Committee, and praised the interest and interaction shown by the representatives of the relevant bodies towards achieving the institute's future vision.
The meeting included holding a workshop in which the members of the Advisory Committee participated in formulating the vision and mission of the institute for the next five years, which will affect its educational, training, and development programs.
The Advisory Committee of the Institute includes the Holy Metropolitan Police, the General Presidency of Enjoining Good and Forbidding Evil, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Training Department at the General Directorate of Border Guards, and a number of representatives from the non-profit sector.
