Thanks to Allah, the College of Applied Medical Sciences held an awareness program on “The most common mistakes while performing aerobic exercises and explaining the resulting injuries”. Under the role of Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the community service activities at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, the fourth-year female students of the Department of Physiotherapy, accompanied by Dr. Jihan Samir Musa, visited the Fitness Speed Women's Club in Makkah on Wednesday, 29 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., under the slogan, "Perform Exercises Correctly". Awareness corners were held to explain how to perform exercises properly, including: having enough sleep, drinking enough water, performing a warm up exercise which increases the efficiency of the target exercise, etc. Next, the common mistakes during biceps curl and plank leg lifts exercises were explained, along with the proper way to perform them and other similar exercises. After that, the trainer explained how to finish the exercise using stretching exercises, in addition to the benefit of performing cooling down exercises.
Explanatory pictures and videos were available to help people understand the correct way of performing exercises, and also practical training. The visitors significantly interacted with the activity, and raised questions and inquiries. Some exercises were carried out to ensure the students knew how to perform them correctly.
The director of the Fitness Speed Club referred to the importance of the content provided, and stressed the importance of having such a specialization in the club. She also stated that they would launch a physiotherapy clinic in the club soon, Allah willing.
