The Deanship of Library Affairs is pleased to announce that “Bates” electronic database is now available among the experimental databases in Umm Al-Qura University. The database can be accessed through either information databases or direct access from inside the campus.
Such database offers head-to-toe systematic clinical assessment in addition to videos of clinical reasoning skills.
Bates Visual Guide to Physical Examination is a group of videos with new medical contents based on the technologies of human body head-to-toe Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE).
This electronic guide keeps the scientifically proven original texts, pays great attention to accurate clinical information of the patient categories mentioned in the chain, supports learning and teaching objectives through encrypted videos, prepares students to meet both the patient and the examination committee, allows students to revise videos more than once and test the special skills of clinical reasoning, provides practitioners with sources so that they can revise and update their comprehension of examination technologies.
Direct links to the videos can be created from the library’s index or the curricula. Besides, PDF copies can be downloaded to be used as evidence during teaching.
