The Deanship of Library Affairs is pleased to announce that “Acland” database is now available among the experimental data bases in Umm Al-Qura University. The database can be accessed through either information databases or direct access from inside the campus.
Acland’s Video Atlas of Human Anatomy is the best way to learn anatomy. One can watch audiovisual material about various anatomy stages performed by the famous Prof. Dr. Robert D. Acland, MBBS,University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr,. Acland explains in such videos the ways of anatomy inside every part of the body including bones, muscles, strings, organs, etc.
The database supports the process of studying and teaching anatomy through more than 300 clearly dubbed videos. Through the database, anatomy comprises of the upper and lower extremities, the trunk, the head and neck, the internal organs, in addition to a new pioneer content about the inner ear.
Independent students are allowed to have frequent access to the videos, apply self-assessment and prepare for academic exam. The Atlas also allows performance monitoring through interactive questions and answers, timed competitions and/or exams and revisions.
The Atlas explains to doctors, nurses and patients the function of muscles via 3D technology, entitles them to search for and share videos or adding them to the “favorites list” for quick checks. It is also available as a mobile application.
