The Dean of the Social Sciences College at UQU, Dr. Adnan Al-Harbi, introduced a scientific lecture organized by the Cultural Activities Committee at the Department of Mass Communication in the College of Social Sciences under the title "Digital Platforms ... Intellectual Security Enhancement." His Excellency Dr. Hilail bin Muhaisin Al-Umairi delivered the lecture in the presence of the Head of the Mass Communication Department in the College of Social Sciences, Dr. Salim bin Ali Urijah, and a number of academic staff and students. The lecture was held in the college celebration hall at Al-Abidiyyah Campus.
At the beginning of the lecture, Dr. Adnan bin Nuri Al-Harbi welcomed the attendees, commended the support of His Excellency the President of the UQU, and expressed his appreciation for the college activities and events, and its distinct research, academic, and administrative environment. He stressed that organizing such meetings and events is conducive to raising the awareness of students, cultivating refined moral values within them, and shielding them against extremist ideas on social media.
He added that these meetings play a positive role in the promotion of love and loyalty to the country and fostering a sense of belonging and defending one's country on digital platforms. He praised the programs and activities conducted by the Department of Mass Communication for serving as an integral part of the educational and research process.
Dr. Salim Urijah expressed appreciation for the support given by the Dean of the College to the extracurricular programs and activities of the department that promote many educational and awareness messages and constitute an integral part of the educational programs. He underlined that promoting a culture of intellectual security and homeland loyalty is a great responsibility shouldered by the Department of Mass Communication and its students.
In the lecture, Dr. Hilail Al-Umairi addressed the subject of intellectual security and its relationship to social media, and touched upon the psychological and technical advantages that promote such a culture. He pointed out some of the measures that limit the negative impacts of social networking platforms on intellectual security and the importance of social media in our community.
