Umm Al-Qura University has begun preparing its students for the labor market and entrepreneurship through the Tenth Scientific Forum, which started on Monday morning under the patronage of the Vice President of the University for Educational Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz Suruji. The forum was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqqaf, and a number of college deans, academic staff, and students.
The forum started his activities by discussing a number of scientific research projects conducted by students in the fields of debate, creativity, elocution, art, and drawing. Dr. Suruji pointed out that such variety of activities illustrates the presence of great number of outstanding creative personnel among the university students.
His Excellency pointed out that the forum gave opportunities to a great number of participants from both the male and female sections. The Deanship of Student Affairs dedicated a huge team of academic, administrative, and technical specialists to assess experiments, review research and judge competitions to guarantee equality and neutrality among all participants.
Dr. Suruji indicated that he witnessed diverse participation as the fields of competition increased through widening the circle of targeted topics. He stressed that this forum promotes a spirit of creativity at the university, with over 130 participants in the scientific field alone, which endorses research participation and improves student outcomes.
According to Dr. Suruji, research conducted by undergraduate students was separated from that conducted by Masters students to promote the spirit of competition and participation and attract distinguished and creative works to be adopted by Wadi Makkah Company. This also helps showcase and refine talent in a way that serves students and the university. He also stressed the importance of cooperation between the Deanship of Student Affairs and Wadi Makkah Technology Company in attracting creative ideas.
