On Wednesday, 15 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., the Head of the Department of Psychology and the associate professor, Dr. Salim bin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Mufrigi, participated in the Alternative Sanctions Workshop, which is currently organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research. During the third session, Dr. Salim submitted a working paper on "Sanctions as an Alternative to Prison: A Psychological Point of View".
The paper aimed at defining the concept of sanctions as an alternative to imprisonment, perceived by a humanitarian, national, economic, and social demand and approach. It also aimed to identify some of the reasons for the activation of such sanctions. Various examples of alternative sanctions were noted to take into account the individual differences between various cases. Moreover, the paper highlighted the difficulties and hindrances precluding the application of the alternative sanctions, and concluded with some recommendations of significant importance in this regard.
