Within the framework of developing and encouraging faculty members to conduct scientific research and expand publishing base, the College of Public Health and Health Informatics has organized on Monday Muharram 23, 1438 H, corresponding to October 24, 2016 a panel discussion under the theme "Scientific Research Strategy at the College of Public Health and Health Informatics- FPH&HI".
The discussion panel reviewed scientific research strategy at the college including vision, mission and objectives, besides the achievements made by the college since its inception in 2010 until now. In this regard, the number of researches published in international scientific journals amounted to 98 by 20 faculty members in the college, along with five registered patents. Additionally, the faculty members of the college participated in 11 conferences at the local and international levels.
The meeting also shed light on the amount of funding to researches provided by the college amounted to eight projects and the number of faculty remembers registered in the scientific research engines such as Google, Scopus and Research Gate. In this respect, three college faculty members are within the list of the top 30 researchers at the level of Umm Al-Qura University in terms of scientific citations referred to their researches.
The last part of the panel extensively discussed students graduation projects, the research outputs required from students, the role of the lecturers in training and teaching students the methods of scientific research, the role of the supervisors, method of evaluating researches depending on the university regulations and standards and the specification of the courses approved in the different programs of the college.
It's noteworthy that the panel discussion was administered by the associate professor, the member of scientific research committee in the college Dr. Aymen Jodah with the participation of the College Dean Dr. Wahib Dakhilallah Al-Harbi, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research Dr. Adel Omar Bahaziq, Vice Dean for Educational Affairs Dr. Fadhil bin Mohamed Banger, department supervisors and members of the teaching staff in the college.
