The General Supervisor of Al-Zaidi Chair for Arthritis and Rheumatism Research at the College of Medicine at Umm Al-Qura University, Dr. Hani Al-Mu`allim, revealed that the chair will create a database for rheumatism patients in the Kingdom.
Through this database, the chair seeks to design and implement educational training programs for physicians supervising rheumatism patients. He made this announcement during his speech at the opening of the recent 8th Forum of Skillful Practices in Rheumatology in Jazan, in the presence of distinguished medical and academic professionals.
Moreover, Dr. Al-Mu`allim said that there are relentless endeavors to embody the vision of the chair so that the University of Umm Al-Qura becomes a pioneer in supervising and participating in conducting research in the field of rheumatic diseases in the Kingdom.
Dr. Walid Hafiz, the Scientific Coordinator of Al-Zaidi Chair for Arthritis and Rheumatism Research, stated that the forum targeted primary care physicians, specialists in family, community and internal medicine, and newly graduated physicians from the College of Medicine at Jazan University.
Furthermore, Dr. Aws Al-Hazmi, the Project Director at the Chair, praised the positive impact of the interactive lectures and practical workshops for raising awareness about rheumatic diseases and exchanging experiences with senior medical specialists.
The workshops were divided into five groups, supervised by consultants, specialists, interns and newly graduated doctors. The forum contributed to informing the participants of the importance of early detection and explained the best method for clinical detection of rheumatic patients by non-specialist doctors, as they are the ones who see these cases most often.
