On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Education and the Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad bin Hamad Aal Al-Sheikh, His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, chaired the third session of the University Council for the academic year 1439/1440 A.H. The session was held on Thursday, 2 Jumada Al-Thani, 1440 A.H., at King Faisal Hall at the University City, in Al-Abdiyyah.
At the beginning of his opening speech, His Excellency the UQU President warmly congratulated His Excellency the Minister of Education and the Chairman of the University Council, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad bin Hamad Aal Al-Sheikh, on the issuance of the royal decree appointing him as the Minister of Education. His Excellency the UQU President also expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the former Minister of Education, Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Isa, for his efforts and constructive directives that led to the development of the university during his tenure.
In addition, His Excellency the UQU President welcomed the new members of the honorable University Council, including His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgith, whom Prof. Abdullah congratulated on his appointment as the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics. Prof. Abdullah also expressed sincere thanks to the former College Dean, Dr. Wahib bin Dakhilullah Al-Harbi. He also congratulated Dr. Ra'id bin Khalaf Al-Asimi on his appointment as the Dean of the College of Shari`ah and Islamic Studies, and extended sincere thanks to the former College Dean, His Eminence Prof. Ghazi bin Murshid Al-Utaibi. In addition, Prof. Abdullah welcomed and congratulated Dr. Abdul-Rahman bin Ali Salih Al-Ghamdi on his appointment as the Dean of the Deanship of Admission and Registration, expressing thanks and appreciation to the former Dean, Prof. Hashim bin Ahmad Muhammad Al-Samadani. And finally, Prof. Abdullah welcomed and congratulated Dr. Yusuf bin Samul Al-Salami on his appointment as the Dean of the College of Arabic Language, and expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the former College Dean, Prof. Abdullah bin Nasir Aal Ali Al-Qarni.
At the end of the session, the Secretary-General of the University Council and the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi, clarified that the honorable council discussed a number of topics listed on the agenda of its third session for the academic year 1439/1440 A.H. In addition, the council studied and discussed several academic and administrative topics related to different academic and educational aspects. Dr. Thamir confirmed that the council took appropriate decisions concerning these topics.

Seeking approval for the proposal put forward by His Excellency the UQU President concerning appointing the top graduate students as “outstanding teaching assistants”. |

Seeking approval for the proposal put forward by the Vice Deanship for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research concerning the development of a joint supervisory program for the postgraduate female students from among the teaching assistants and lecturers whose circumstances prevented them from accepting scholarships to complete their postgraduate studies. |

Seeking approval for granting a number of academic staff members two-year membership to the councils of some colleges and institutes at Umm Al-Qura University. |

Seeking approval for charging the BDO Dr. Mohamed Al- Amri and Co. (chartered accountants) with carrying out the external auditing of the university's accounts for twelve months, starting from the date the contract is signed with the company. |

Seeking approval for maintaining the UQU President's powers given by the University Council to terminate the scholarships of some UQU mission students. |

Seeking approval for the rules and regulations related to the appointments to the post of 'assistant professor' at the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at the UQU College of Pharmacy. |

Seeking approval for the addition of two external members to the editorial board of each UQU scientific journal, for a tenure of two years. |

Informing the University Council of the decisions issued by the UQU President approving the termination of the scholarships of a number of the UQU mission students, according to their request (those issued during the period starting from 20 Rajab, 1439 A.H. to 20 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1440 A.H.). |
