It was inaugurated by his Royal Highness Prince Khalid ibn Abdul-Aziz, the advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Makkah emir at the Jeddah Library, on October 11th, 2016. It comes as part of Makkah’s strategy in terms of building one’s personality. Present were the governmental sectors directors and a select of writers, pundits and social network activists.

Still, having opened the Project, Prince Khalid Alfaisal underlined that the Kingdom was built upon the holy Quran and Sunnah methodology and teachings, and this in turn boosts the concept of role model for its citizens. He quoted what the mass media and social networking websites transmitted of the Saudi nationals serving the Haj performers.

He went on to add “we embrace the Islamic religion,a nd we adopt the holy Quran and Sunnah in our life daily activities; then how we are not a role model.” He further stressed that we should take advantage of all the modern day gains without abandoning our Islamic religious constants.

Similarly, Prince Khalid underscored that all the entities in the region should positively respond to the Project. He gave directives forming a committee made up of all the entities in the region. The committee is to prepare programs and activities related to the Project. He also instructed upon creating a center in the emirate meant to be a linking point between the emirate and the other governmental entities, and to take charge of coordinating and organizing the activities which boost the concept of “ How To Be A Role Model’. An annual report is to be submitted to him about what has been accomplished.

Prince Khalid went on to call on every citizen to contribute to the cultural, intellectual Project “How to Be a Role Model” and actively participate in it. He pointed out that the Project targets the householder, teacher, mosque preacher and each official in their field.

By the same token, Prince Khalid noted that Makkah emirate launched a new initiative for organizing and outlining the regions’ activities. Such an initiative targets the developmental integrity of building the region’s individual and developing it. This in turn fulfills the aim of building the individual and developing the place through an annual motto deriving the activities from it its spirit for unifying the messages targeting the building of the role model.

Further, the project translates the second objective of the region’s developmental vision, which is advancing the development of the region’s individual to adequately deserve to be branded the strong and the honest. All this can be realized through supporting the developmental efforts in Makkah in terms of culture, education, communication and planning, as well as having the civil society take part in analyzing problems and brining up initiatives.

Accordingly, this year’s theme “How To Be a Role Model” is to be generalized at the governmental and private sectors, and all the activities in Makkah. Also, the theme is to be adopted in all the activities taking place in the region through the entertainment, educational, social and sports means.  Accurate, outlined success indicators are to be set for achieving tangible successes at the end of the year. Likewise, a supervising and follow-up committee is formed for all the activities held in the region to ensure that the spirit and aim of this year’s theme are embraced in the practical activities. The committee also will work on assessing and bringing up the activities organized in the region for pinpointing the initiatives that better achieve the vision and objectives of this year’s theme.  The committee is to honor the distinctive initiatives and activities which contributed to building the individual by translating this year’s theme in a practical, rich way.
