The UQU Deanship of Scientific Research participated in the National Festival of Heritage and Culture 'Al-Janadiriyyah33' in the Pavilion of the Emirate of Makkah Province, represented by three research chairs as follows: King Salman bin Abdulaziz Chair for Studies on the History of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Chair for the Development of Slum Areas in Makkah, and the King Abdullah Chair for the Holy Qur'an.

The Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Ahdal, said that the participation of the Deanship in Al-Janadriyah Festival came through the directions and support of His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, and the Vice President of Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Himdan Al-Harbi.

Dr. Al-Ahdal stressed that the Chairs' participation in the National Festival for Heritage and Culture in Al-Janadiryah 33 reflects the most important fields of the Deanship of Scientific Research. He continued, "Umm Al-Qura University is proud to give top priority, in its research activity, to the Holy Qur'an and the guidance and rulings that the Holy Book provides, represented by the King Abdullah Chair for the Holy Qur'an."

His excellence the Dean of Scientific Research stated that the research interests of Umm Al-Qura University include the study of the ancient and modern history of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, particularly during the Saudi era, in line with the concern attached by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Saudi's history and the national heritage. This Chair, which bears his noble name, is an outcome of this interest and an indication of his care for history and culture.

And finally, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal Chair for the Development of Slum Areas in Makkah focuses on the study of the slum areas in the region, using both scientific and geometric plans. For this reason, the Chair held several scientific meetings and workshops to develop these areas for them to become one of the world's greatest locations.

Dr. Al-Ahdal indicated that Al-Janadriyah festival 33 is distinguished by its comprehensiveness, diversity, richness, integration and large turnout. The festival is a shining image of our cultural treasures, the country attractiveness as a tourist destination, and the ability of this sector to contribute to the national economy and sustainable development.
