His Excellency the President of Umm Al-Qura University, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, launched the service of my E-Referral [Ehalati] Program at his office at the University campus in Al-Abdiyyah. The program forms a partnership between the Ministry of Health and the University Medical Center. The launching of the program was in the presence of His Excellency the Vice-President of the University, Dr. Yasser bin Sulaiman Shosho, the Assistant General Manager for Medical Services at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Province, Dr. Hatim Khuqair, and the Administrative Manager of Hospitals at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Province, Dr. Nazar Salih Bawahab.

His Excellency stressed the importance of upgrading the medical and health services at the University, and emphasized that they are working non-stop to complete the University hospital in Al-Abdiyyah, in its two stages. The capacity of this hospital will be 400 beds, due to the grace of Allah, and after that the support the University receives from our Wise Leadership, may Allah support them.

His Excellency blessed the services of My E-Referral Program that falls within the integration that the University seeks to achieve with governmental sectors, which goes in line with the vision of the Kingdom of 2030 towards e-governance.

He pointed out that the University, through its medical colleges and Dental Teaching Hospital, possesses highly qualified personnel that can activate the horizons of cooperation with the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Province.

On his part, Dr. Yassir Hassan Bahakim, the Director of the University Medical Center, pointed out that My E-Referral Program falls within the social partnership with the Ministry of Health through which services can be integrated between the University Medical Center and the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Province. Visitors of the University Medical Centers, either academic staff or students, will be referred to the hospitals of the Ministry of Health to complete their treatment, if necessary, through this service.

The Assistant General Manager for Medical Services in Makkah Province, Dr. Hatim Khuqair, praised the cooperation with Umm Al-Qura University. He stressed that linking My Referral Program electronically between the Directorate of Health Affairs and the University Medical Center is a qualitative shift and a great progress that will enable the system to respond quickly to patients who need health care in specialized hospitals.

The Director of the Administration of Treatment Eligibility and Medical Coordination and the Director of My E-Referral Program at the Directorate of Health Affairs in Makkah Province, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Dahhas, declared that My Referral Program is a national project that joins the hospitals of the Ministry of Health with the health sectors in other governmental bodies, such as university hospitals, National Guard hospitals and Armed Forces hospitals. He indicated that the goal of this service is to accelerate the progress of work and services, adding that making use of the time factor is to the benefit of the patient, as it avoids complications. He pointed out that this service is administered through medical coordination offices around the clock. A time table was defined for responding to medical cases.
