Within the framework of the joint cooperation between Umm Al-Qura University, represented by the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, and the various government agencies, His Excellency Dr. Ahmad bin Omar Babalgith, the Dean of the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, accompanied by His Excellency Dr. Hamid Ghulam, the Vice Dean of the College, His Excellency Dr. Ali Al-Shahri, the Vice Dean of the College for Educational Affairs, and His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Uthman, the supervisor of the Vice Deanship of the College for Hospital Affairs, visited the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection in Jeddah. This visit took place on Tuesday, 26 Rabi` Al-Awwal, 1440 A.H. A meeting was held with His Excellence Dr. Ahmad Al-Ansari, the Authority's Vice President for Environmental Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Majdi Al-Toukhi, Director of the National Strategy for Health and Environment, His Excellency Dr. Talal Al-Milbi, Director of the Research and Development Center, and Mr. Salim bin Shu`aib, Director of Health and Environment Administration.
The visit comes within the framework of discussing the means of joint cooperation between the College and the Authority in various fields, and the possibility of signing a non-profit community partnership with the Authority to provide social responsibility services, as well as to train the students of the college with the aim of providing them with the required practical skills and experience to enable them to carry out their future job tasks well.
The meeting began with a welcome speech by the Executive Director of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection in Jeddah, Dr. Ahmad Al-Ansari, who gave a simplified explanation of the services provided by the Authority. These services include observation of meteorological phenomena, setting up expectations for safety of life and protection of property through an integrated technical and practical system in accordance with international meteorological standards, and working to optimize the use of the Kingdom's natural resources. This includes rationing their use in order to protect current and future generations from the damage of environmental pollution through environmental management and balanced development. His Excellency welcomed the joint cooperation between the Authority and the College in terms of training and qualifying the students.
