The University Medical Center, represented by the Pharmaceutical Care Department and supervised by the Public Health Unit of the University Medical Center, organized an awareness event about antibiotics with the slogan “Be Careful with ... Antibiotics!” This health-related awareness event was held on Tuesday, 4 Rabi` Al-Thani, 1440 A.H. and included different educational and awareness corners, which displayed the following topics:
- Effects of antibiotic misuse or overuse.
- Prevention of antibiotic resistance.
- People allergic to penicillin.
- Percentage diagram of antibiotic resistance in the Kingdom.
- Risks of using antibiotics without a prescription.
- A three-dimensional model of major antibiotic-drug interactions.
- Guidelines on how to use antibiotics prudently.
- Survey on community awareness of antibiotic use.
- An illustrative film on antibiotic resistance.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Yassir Hassan Bahakim, Director of the University Medical Center, expressed his profound thanks to Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Al-Hifani, faculty member of the College of Pharmacy and the supervisor of the Clinical Pharmacy clinic at the University Medical Center, for his attendance and participation in the event, accompanied by a group of house officers at the College of Pharmacy. He also added his appreciation for the efforts undertaken by the staff of the University Medical Center to enhance the quality of treatment and preventive services provided to all patients and visitors of the University Medical Center, including UQU students, university staff, and family members eligible for medical care.
