Umm Al-Qura University Celebrates the Fourth Anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques

Umm Al-Qura University Celebrated, today, the Fourth Anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, may Allah protect him, at King Abdul-Aziz Historical Hall in Al-`Abdiyyah. The celebration was held under the auspices of His Excellency the UQU President, and in the presence of the deans and vice-deans of different colleges as well as a number of the University staff. The celebration for the female section was held in Al-Jawharah Hall, and was attended by the Dean of the University Studies for Girls, Dr. Halah Al-Amoudi, and other vice-deans and University staff.

On behalf of His Excellency the UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, the Vice-President for Branches, Prof. Abdul-Majid Al-Ghamdi, opened the associated exhibitions, which included an exhibition of the photos of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, may Allah protect him, and the details of his biography, and another exhibition of plastic art.

Afterward, the Vice-President for Branches launched the first stage of the initiative of His Excellency the UQU President to print specialized theses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He reviewed the special edition of the University Manar Magazine that was issued by the Mass Communication Department on this occasion.

The General Supervisor of the Museum Department, Dr. Fahd bin Atiq Al-Malki, delivered a speech in which he mentioned that the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has been characterized by wisdom and cultural achievements, on both the internal and external levels. He said, "His unique personality and ability have been reflected on his dealing with crises and circumstances by building international alliances and making crucial decisions that reinforced the Kingdom's status and displayed his extreme care about the future, development and prosperity of his nation."

During the celebration, a video of the achievements of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, was played. Next, the Head of the Arabic Postgraduate Studies at the College of Arabic Language, Dr. Saud bin Hamid Al-Sa`idi, recited a poem in which he praised the glorious anniversary of the fourth pledge of allegiance.

The Vice-President for Branches, Prof. Abdul-Majid Al-Ghamdi, mentioned that when the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, may Allah protect him, was crowned four years ago, he addressed the people with a message on the future. The Vice-President for Branches explained, "At that time, many of us did not realize the strategic objectives of that message. He talked about a change of vision, and about corruption, education, women, economy and politics. He talked about all aspects of the country, while explaining the method and mechanisms of development and modernization."

He continued, "On the fourth anniversary of the pledge of allegiance, we can see that his words are being fulfilled and are turning from mere words into a reality that we presently live in. Plans for the national change 2020 are being carried out, the Vision 2030 is being applied and has attracted the response of the citizens, women are being entrusted with leading posts and have been granted their right to drive cars, our economy has become among the best 20 economies in the world, and in politics he managed, with his experience, to overcome all enemies of our country. Moreover, he developed public facilities, expanded services, increased the number of universities, and ensured the safety of his country."

The Vice-President for Branches, Prof. Abdul-Majid Al-Ghamdi, then honored a number of those who participated in the celebration, such as the Makkah Historical Studies Center, the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts in Makkah, the College of Designs, the College of Social Sciences, the College of Education, the College of Arabic Language, the History Department, the Mass Communication Department, and group of the different sectors of the community.
