On Wednesday Rabi` Al-Awwal 27, 1440 A.H., the UQU College of Applied Sciences, represented by the Department of Chemistry in collaboration with the Department of Infection Control at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah, organized an antibiotics awareness program on the occasion of World Antibiotic Awareness Week from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in front of Al-Jawhara Hall gate at Al-Zahir campus.
The activity aimed to educate the university community about the benefits and correct use of antibiotics in children, adults, the elderly, and pregnant women.
It included a survey, brochures and leaflets, banners and video presentations to spread awareness. The activity also highlighted the importance of vaccinations to strengthen immunity and control infection amongst crowds in congested areas. The activity included a seasonal influenza vaccination campaign.
The activity was attended by the UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khuli; the Dean of University Studies for Girls, Dr. Hala bin Sa`id Al-Amoudi; the Vice Dean of University Studies for Girls for Educational Affairs and Development; and a number of vice deans, deputy heads departments, academic staff, and students.
At the conclusion of the activity, the hospital's team received certificates of appreciation.
