The Governor of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, Dr. Ghassan Ahmed Al-Suleiman branded Umm Al-Qura University experiment in supporting and launching innovation-based startups through Wadi Makkah Techno Valley as a "pioneering step". In statement delivered upon visiting startups center together with UQU President Dr. Bakri M'atooq bin Bakri Assas on Thursday Muharram 5th,1438H, he said that Wadi Makkah determination to turn the outputs of the scientific research and innovation into tangible products through startup companies, is one of the most important roles undertaken by the university to serve its community and nation and to keep pace with the comprehensive developmental renaissance witnessed in the country under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud and the care and support attached to our universities thus making them fully aware of the role assigned to them, meanwhile highlighting their research and scientific role which benefits the country depending on their scholars and scientist and moving forward to achieving national strategy of transformation towards the sustainable investment "Knowledge-based Economy".
Al-Suleiman underscored that the pioneering steps undertaken by Wadi Makkah Company through the programs designed to serve innovators and entrepreneurs will contribute Allah willing to opening up broad and various prospects for our promising youth to create small and medium sizes establishments in innovative and technology fields reckoned the most important engines of growth for our national economy according to the Saudi Vision 2030.
Further, Al-Suleiman congratulated Umm Al-Qura University represented by its President Dr. Bakri Assas and working team of Wadi Makkah Company who has made all these achievements under the chairmanship of the UQU Vice President for Business and Innovation and the Deputy Chairman of the Wad Makkah Technology Company Dr. Nabil Abdul-Qadir Koshak and the Company's Chief Executive Officer Dr. Osama Al-Omari.
It's Worth Mentioning here that the UQU President Dr. Assas conducted together with the Governor of the General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, Dr. Ghassan Al-Suleiman and his accompanying delegation an introductory visit to the startups center at Wadi Makkah Company. During their visit, they checked on the startups contained within the center and their innovative and technological products. Additionally, they listened to an elaborate presentation by Dr. Koshak and Dr. Al-Omari on the startups and their innovative products which have achieved many sales in the market through the contracts concluded with several establishments in both the public and private sectors.
