Hajj and Umrah Research Institute examines the demographic characteristics of pilgrims

The Institute of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for Research on Hajj and Umrah of UQU, represented by the Department of scientific information and services is studying the demographic characteristics of the pilgrims, plus some social and economic characteristics of a sample of this year's pilgrims 1437.

Dr Faisal Sebai advised that the study aims to find out the differences in demographics and the economic and social gap between pilgrims or Umrah pilgrims coming from abroad, as well as pilgrims and Umrah pilgrims from inside the Kingdom, and getting to know some relationships that may exist between population, economic and social variables.

Dr. Sebai explained that the study looked at a number of variables such as sex, nationality, language, social situation, ages of pilgrims, Entry point, the means of transport used, educational status, occupation, total number of Umrah pilgrimges, the number of escorts, number of praying times in the Holy Mosques, the cost of the trip, the Pilgrim's allowance during the pilgrimage, pilgrim's income, received education, the number of pilgrims who visited the Madinah before pilgrimage, accommodation in Mecca, passport and customs authorities treatment, the treatment of workers in the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's mosque …etc, in the hope that the results of the study will help officials involved in Hajj and Umrah to make the correct decisions as regards planning and development.
