Dr. Abdelaziz bin Rashad Sorouji, the UQU Vice-President for Educational Affairs sponsored the closing ceremony of the “Memorizers of the Two Revelations” contest organized by the Deanship of Students’ Affairs on Monday, 04 Rajab 1437 at Al-Jame’ Al-Kabeer in Abdiya.
The ceremony opened with the recitation of Quranic verses, followed by a speech by Dr. Amr bin Taha Al-Saqaf, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, in which he indicated that the contest is made up of two branches: the first one includes memorizing Quran in full, 15 parts of the Holy Quran, 10 parts and 5 parts; whereas the other part is devoted to memorizing Al-Bukhari and Muslim and the Pillar of Rules in Hadith (Omdat Al-Ahkam). He pointed out that a large number of students registered in the contest. He appreciated the cooperation made by the College of Da’wa represented by the Department of Quranic Recitations and the Department of Quran and Sunnah. The Dean of the College of Da’wa, and the members of judging panels as well as the organizers of the contest were thanked for their efforts in making the contest successful.
The Vice-President for Educational Affairs delivered a speech in which he extended the University President’s thanks to the contest organizers and supporters. He also stated that the University does its utmost to serve and support the UQU students. Afterwards, he took part in honoring the entities that contributed to the contest.
After that, the judging panel listened to the final qualifications. The panel included Dr. Khaled bin Ali Al-Ghamdi, Imam of the Grand Mosque, and the Head of the Department of Quranic Recitation. Winners were given the assigned awards. The ceremony was attended by a number of heads of governmental circles in Makkah and UQU students.
