Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) participated in the 18th Vienna International Book Fair, which was held from November 7, 2018, as part of the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Vice Dean of Library Affairs, Dr. Amina Naif Al-Ahmady, headed the UQU delegation to the fair. She was accompanied by Mrs. Nahla Al-Solaimany from the Deanship of Library Affairs and Mr. Sameer Soudi from the Institute of Manuscripts and Revival of Islamic Heritage. The Kingdom’s pavilion was launched by the Ambassador of the Kingdom to Austria, Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan, accompanied by the Saudi Cultural Attaché, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Homaidy. They visited the university exhibition and were briefed about the contents of the exhibition, which included many intellectual materials from the university, such as historical books highlighting the glorious history of the Kingdom.  

Dr. Amina Al-Ahmady presented Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan and Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Homaidi with copies of Atlas Makkah, a notable book published by Umm Al-Qura University, a memorial shield, and a documentary video about UQU. The gifts were very much appreciated.

The members of the participating delegation expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm and support of UQU President, Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail, during their participation in such international scientific forums, which contribute to highlighting the university's scientific contribution. They also praised the efforts of UQU Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harby, and his support of the work of the exhibition committee.
