UQU President Discusses Cooperation with the Director of the Joint Security Operations Center

The President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas  discussed at his office in Abdiyah Campus with the Director of the Joint Security Operations Center Col. Ali bin Attiya Al-Ghamdi, the mechanism of providing training and qualification for 700 employees working in the Joint Security Operations Center 911 in Makkah. The meeting that took place on Sunday Dhul-Hijjah  24, 1437 H, was attended by UQU Vice President Dr. Yassir bin Sulaiman Shoushou, the Dean of the College of Community Service and Continuing Education Dr. Khalid Barqawi and the Dean of the Consulting Research and Studies Institute Dr. Ali Al-Shaari.

 
 
At the commencement of the meeting, the UQU President welcomed the attendees saying that the university has various consulting centers and institutes which provide high-quality training and qualification programs in the sharia, engineering, medical, and Arabic language sciences fields, as well as the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Researches as one of the most important units of the university. He added that the university  takes pride of  serving security personnel because they are the ever-alert watchful eyes on the security of our beloved country,  and to provide them with all needed consultancies and programs in collaboration with the Joint Security Operations Center. 

 

He went on to say that the university has significant distinction in the technology fields through Wadi Makkah Technology Company and its startups  which have supplied in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030 a number of high-tech devices at the Holy Mosque in Makkah along with other holy places to serve pilgrims, according to Dr. Assas who said the provided technologies included a vehicle tracking system to locate pilgrims' buses on holy place maps. Lorries  platforms were installed in specific locations around the holy places to collect information from buses for analysis and giving the pictorial description for the movement, Dr. Assas added.


An application (Almaqsd) was developed to provide an audio guide and a 3D map for the Holy Mosque in Makkah. It collects data via a number of sensors that were installed in different spots at the mosque. Another application was developed and launched by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah (Manasikana) that helps pilgrims and provide information on the rituals and at airports. It is available in seven languages and gives technologies in cooperation with the General Cars Syndicate (Naqaba) and Holy Makkah Municipality.


 
For his part, UQU Vice President Dr. Yassir Shoushou said that the university is proud to cooperate with the Joint Security Operations Center 911 and that it has recently provided several programs for the Public Security Personnel represented by the training city, Hajj and Umrah Forces, Prisons Department and Border Guards. He added that the university takes the pride of serving its community by providing various qualification programs , pointing out that the most important one  in this regard is a consultancy program provided for prisoners since five years ago.
 


At the conclusion of the meeting, the Director of the Joint Security Operations Center in Makkah Col. Ali bin Attiya Al-Ghamdi applauded cooperation of the UQU President, UQU Vice President and all the participants in the meeting with the Center. He pointed out that the meeting aimed at boosting the performance of the workers in the center by offering them technical and social courses by the distinctive faculty members of the university. He wished for these advanced programs to help the Center's workforces receiving complaints in a perfect manner, pointing out that training will be provided for about 700 employees.
