MAWHIBA Students Delegation Visits Chemistry Department in the College of Applied Sciences

A delegation including educational supervisors and King Abdul-Aziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (MAWHIBA) students, representing the general education students in Makkah, visited the Department of Chemistry in the College of Applied Sciences at Umm Al-Qura University as part of the activities of Arab Chemistry Week 2018. The Head of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Ismail bin Ibrahim Al-Thaqafi, members of the teaching staff, and the students received the delegation at the university campus in Abdiyyah. 


At the commencement of the visit, Dr. Ismail bin Ibrahim Al-Thaqafi welcomed the visiting delegation and spoke to them about the department, its plans, and different laboratories in various chemistry fields. He then explained to them the importance of chemistry and its relevance to different specializations serving the labor market. He also referred to the importance of the integrative work being done between the general education schools and the universities to qualify students and upgrade their educational level to achieve the nation's aspirations in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030. 


After that, the delegation visited the chemistry laboratories and reviewed the latest developments in the students and research laboratories, touching upon the needs of both undergraduate and graduate students in the chemistry department. They also visited the physics laboratories and the biology department museum. 


Wrapping up the visit, the delegation extended its thanks and appreciation to the Head of Chemistry Department for the good reception and gifted him a memorial shield to mark the occasion.
