On the occasion of the World Arthritis Day, Al Zaidi Chair of Research in Rheumatic Diseases (ZCRD) at UQU College of Medicine organized an awareness campaign at Makkah Mall. The event witnessed the participation of third-year Medicine College students of both genders, in addition to a number of persons interested in the health aspect.
The campaign aimed at educating members of the community, contributing to social responsibility towards society, as well as raising health awareness of rheumatic diseases among community members.
In this regard, Dr. Waleed bin Abdurrabb Hafedh, Scientific Coordinator at ZCRD, confirmed the necessity to hold such events. In other words, such events contributed to raising health awareness among community members, and helped patients know the symptoms of such diseases and receive medical advice for early diagnosis and treatment. He added that the symptoms of rheumatic diseases became existent among all society segments.
It is worth mentioning that the event witnessed the attendance of a large number of visitors and enthusiasts. They were impressed by the pavilions associated with the campaign and supervised by Dr. Aws Al-Hazemy, Project Manager at ZCRD. Moreover, the third-year Medicine College students educated visitors about the disease. In addition to that, the campaign was accompanied by early examination clinics supervised by consultant doctors in rheumatology. Besides, it included a special corner for radiography to diagnose and follow up some diseases related to arthritis and rheumatoid. It also comprised examination of children with rheumatic diseases.
