Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafil, President of Umm Al-Qura University (UQU), headed the (First) meeting of the University’s Higher Advisory Committee on Thursday, 17^th Muharram 1440H. Welcoming all attending esteemed committee members, Prof. Bafil started the meeting with the following speech: “Dear, brothers and sisters. On behalf of me and all UQU students, staff members and employees, it is my pleasure to wish a happy 88^th Saudi National Day for HRH King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, HRH Prince Muhammad bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense (May Allah save them!), the Saudi Royal Family and all the Saudi people. Such occasion definitely embodies the national unity and reminds us that Allah, the Almighty, made King Abdulaziz (May he rest in peace!) unify our beloved country, i.e. the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the umbrella of monotheism. Thus, as people and citizens, we must fulfill our religious, national and moral duties towards our dear homeland. This is because loyalty to the homeland deserves sacrificing all that is precious to preserve its unity, capabilities and gains."

In the same context, Prof. Bafil added, “It is also our pleasure to welcome the recent fresh members of UQU Council and Higher Advisory Committee. Respectively, I would like to welcome Dr. Ahmad bin Nayef Al-Ahmady, Prof. Ihsan bin Saleh Al-Mu’taz, Dr. Essam bin Abdullah Bazar’ah, Dr. Omar bin Abdullah Al-Hazazy, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Sa’aty and Dr. Adnan bin Noury Yahia Al-Maghamesy Al-Harby, congratulate them on becoming Deans of the Colleges of Engineering and Islamic Architecture, Business Administration, Community, Health Sciences in Al-Qunfudha, Medicine in Al-Qunfudha, Social Sciences, and extend deep thanks and appreciation to Dr. Hamza bin Ahmad Mahmoud Ghalman, Dr. Sultan bin Ayedh Al-Baqmy, Dr. Khalid bin Saad As-Salimy, Dr. Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Isa, Dr. Osama bin Abdurrahman Sheikh Omar, Dr. Muhammad bin Ahmad Othman Basaqr, the Former Deans, for all their constructive efforts while in office. In addition, I would like to welcome Prof. Farid bin Ali Al Yahia Al-Ghamdi and congratulate him on becoming the Dean of the Faculty Members and Employees Affairs Deanship. May Allah, the Almighty, grant everyone guidance and success in what pleases Him!”

This was followed by the instructions of Prof. Bafil to study the topics on the agenda of the meeting and set appropriate recommendations. Moreover, several administrative, scientific and academic topics were discussed.
