UQU President Launches Summer Training Program

President of Umm Al-Qura University who serves also as the Chairman of Board of Directors of Wadi Makkah Technology Company Prof. Abdullah Omar Bafail launched today Sunday Dhul-Qe'dah 2, 1439 H the third annual summer program carried out by Wadi Makkah Technology Company for the benefit of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute in the university with the participation of 110 male and female students from all Saudi and international universities. Present in the launching ceremony, which took place at the university campus in Abdyia, were; the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi, CEO of Wadi Makkah Dr. Faisal Al-Alaf, Dean of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute Dr.  Mowfaq Oreijah and the CEO of Tilal Al-Namaa Company Dr. Wadee Barqawi.


Then, the UQU President toured the different paths of the summer training program including; the engineering design, direction & cinematography, modeling & embedded systems and entrepreneurship. He listened to an elaborate presentation about these paths, their objectives, and extent of benefit to be gained by those enrolled in the program. 

 

After that, Prof. Abdullah Bafail launched Wadi Makkah Educational Academy Channel on YouTube. The channel is reckoned as one of the initiatives of Wadi Makkah initiatives to enrich the local content and will include all the courses and workshops. It will be interested in a number of fields including; entrepreneurship, technology, and design and will target entrepreneurs, designers, and programmers.      
  

Following the tour, the UQU President congratulated the trainees for joining the summer training program at Wadi Makkah Technology Company and urged them to be diligent to reap maximum benefit from the advantages offered by Wadi Makkah to the trainees. He added that organizing such program comes in line with the Kingdom's orientation to achieve the 2030 vision that attaches significant concern to youth and contribute to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship areas. He then wished success for everyone.  

 

For his part, the UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi said; in its third version, the program witnesses more development and new paths to keep pace with the entrepreneurship programs. He then praised the directives of the UQU President and his support provided for all the programs of Wadi Makkah Company.  

 

In turn, the CEO of Wadi Makkah Company, Dr. Faisal Al-Alaf, highlighted the program objectives. According to him, it places particular emphasis on honing the technological and entrepreneurial skills an entrepreneur needs to start up his/her own business. Another objective is to bridge the gap between educational outputs and labor market requirements, by training students on the various technical and administrative skills. That is to be added to allowing trainees to take a closer look at a real-world work environment where they could demonstrate and further develop their skills.
