On behalf of the Minister of Education the Chairman of UQU Council Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Issa, the President of UQU Prof. Abdullah bin Omar Bafail chaired the 5th  meeting of university council on Thursday Ramadan 15, 1439 H corresponding to May 31, 2018. 

At the commencement of the meeting, the UQU President Prof. Bafail said: “All Praise is due to Allah, and peace and blessing be upon prophet Mohamed Bin Abdullah (peace be upon him), his family and companions. I am pleased and honored to open the 5th  session for the academic year 1438/1439H on behalf of the Minister of Education, the UQU Council Chairman. Welcome, all of you, vice-presidents, deans, vice-deans and secretary general of the interim committee – acting for the Higher Education Council - our dear and honest colleague, Dr. Mohamed bin Abdel Aziz Al-Saleh”.


All Praise is due to Allah and peace and blessing be upon the master of the prophets and commander of the believers, Mohamed Bin Abdullah peace be upon him.


Following the meeting, the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research he secretary general of the council Dr. Thamir bin Hamdan Al-Harbi said the meeting discussed several topics on its agenda as follows:  

• To Approve the details of the university calendar for the academic year (1439/ 1440H) for the beginning and end of the study, and the identification of the leaves within it.
• To approve delegation of the council powers to HE the Minister of Education, the chairman of the university council in the urgent matters during the summer vacation of the current academic year 1438/1439 H.
• To approve requests of secondment and lending of a number of teaching staff to work outside the university.
• To Approve request for appointing of a number of faculty members to be members in the councils of some colleges and institutes for two years 
• To approve hiring and re-hiring of a number of retired teaching staff (signing new contracts and renewing of old contracts).
• To approve governing regulations of the Custodian of Two Holy Mosques Institute for Hajj and Umrah Research as per the draft submitted to the council.
• To approve the final accounts of the university for the academic year (1438/1439 H) and the report of the external auditors. 
• To approve granting sabbatical leave to a number of faculty members.

The council also discussed several  administrative, scientific and academic  issues and has recommended taking necessary measures upon them
