UQU President Discusses Aspects of Joint Cooperation with the Indian Ambassador

 President of Umm Al-Qura University Prof. Abdullah Omar Bafail discussed with the Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom Mr. Ahmed Jawed aspects of joint cooperation and coordination between both sides in areas related to providing scholarships for Indian male and female students to continue their studies at Umm Al-Qura University in Arabic language, D'awa and sharia. This came while receiving the ambassador and his accompanying delegation at the university campus in Abdyia in the presence of the Dean of College of Sharia and Islamic Studies  Dr. Ghazi bin Morshid Al-Otaibi, the Dean of College of D'awa and Islamic Theology Dr. Faisal Gazawi and the Dean of Arabic Language Institute for Non-Native Speakers Dr. Hassan Bukhari and from the Indian part the first secretary at the embassy Mr. Hafzulrahman, the third secretary in the consulate Mr. Moeen Akhtar and the member of Indian Consulate Mr. Mohamed Younis Khan. 

 

At the commencement of the meeting, the UQU President welcomed the Indian ambassador and his accompanying delegation and briefed them about Umm Al-Qura University and its branches, and different scientific, educational and research streams explaining the role played by the university for students of the Islamic nation studying in the university on annual bases together with their Saudi brothers by providing them the educational opportunities in the different colleges of the university including; sharia, Arabic language and the Institute of Arabic Language for Non-Native Speakers, through the study scholarships offered by the Saudi government represented by the Ministry of Education.   He added that currently, 40 Indian students including; 30 males and 10 females are receiving their MSc and Ph.D. education in the colleges of D'awa and Islamic Theology, Sharia and Islamic Studies and Arabic language. He noted that all of them are receiving the needed care and attention to continue their studies.

 

For his part, the Indian Ambassador Mr. Ahmed Jawed expressed his thanks and appreciation to the government of Saudi Arabia led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud, and the heir apparent for the study scholarships offered for the Indian male and female students to receive sharia and Arabic education in the Kingdom Universities in general and Umm Al-Qura University in particular affirming their keenness to fully cooperate with the Saudi side to serve the two friendly countries and people. He then referred to the importance of the significant role played by the Saudi universities particularly Umm Al-Qura University for its status and for its offered sciences in the sharia, Arabic language, D'awa fields in addition to the advanced modern sciences. He wished for such cooperation between the university and the Indian embassy in the Kingdom to increase in such manner which serves aspirations and hopes of everyone praising the deep bilateral relations between the two friendly countries under the support of  the  leaders  in the both countries and their keenness to consolidate this relation in all fields of common interest.   

 

He also praised efforts exerted by Umm Al-Qura University and its keen interest paying the needed attention and providing education for its students in general and the Indian male and female students, who are currently receiving their education in the university,  in particular. 

 

Wrapping up the visit, the UQU President Prod. Abdullah Bafail presented a memorial gift to the Indian Ambassador and his accompanying delegation.
