UQU President Professor Abdullah Omar Bafail launched fashion showroom of Designs College and the annual exhibition of the works of the college female students organized in conjunction with World’s Design Day under the slogan of “It was just an Idea". The launching ceremony took place in the presence of the UQU Vice President for Educational Affairs Dr. Abdul-Aziz Al-Sorouji, Dean of Designs College Dr. Hisham bin Abdul-Rahman Maghrabi and the college Vice Deans in the headquarters of the female campus at Al-Mansour Street.
Following the launching ceremony, Prof. Bafail listened to an elaborate presentation by the Dean of Designs College Hisham Maghrabi on the exhibition and its contents stressing that the exhibition is set to showcase ideas of the female students after being turned into paper designs and then into products proving their capacities and skills and qualifying them for the labor market competition through the small projects in a such manner which will help activate their role in serving the community through their creative works in line with the labor market requirements and the Kingdom Vision 2030. He added that these works were prepared by the female students in the different department of the college including; fashion design, housing, and home management.
Within the same vein, Dr. Maghrabi said that the works of the female students in the college are represented in showcasing the best products of the study courses participated in the exhibition including; applied research in the field of specialty, dress forms, apparel accessories, expression in color and lighting, traditional design and embroidery, textile technology and woven structure, fashion design, Knitting techniques, automatic and manual embroidery, projects management, exhibitions and computer applications. He added that the exhibition was coordinated by exhibition committee formed at the level of the college and including a constellation of faculty members in the fields of fashion design, housing and home management with the participation of 120 female students. He praised the support and directives of the UQU President Prof. Abdullah Bafail which contributed to providing an educational environment set to upgrading outcomes of the female students.
For his part, the UQU President Prof. Bafail lauded the support attached by the wise leadership to the educational process and academic programs of the university in line with the National Transformation Program 2020 and the Kingdom Vision 2030 which provided the attractive environment for the students with outcomes meeting the labor market requirements. He also praised the support of the Minister of Education Dr. Ahmed bin Mohamed Al-Issa to all the programs and activities of the University.
All the more, he lauded the creative works in the exhibition of the female students of Designs College which reflects the acquired skills and capabilities and contributes to bridging the gap between the educational outcomes and the labor market. He underscored that these works are only small part of the ideas and skills gained by the college female students. He then lauded the efforts exerted by the college dean Dr. Hisham Maghrabi and all its affiliates and students for these creative works which are consistent with the university plans and objectives sought to provide high-quality outcomes to serve the country and the community.
