President of Umm Al Qura University (UQU) Dr. Bakri Bin M'atoog Bin Bakri Assas on Tuesday, Shawal 21, at his office in Al-Abdiyah, reviewed the College of Shari'ah’s unique plan of admission for the Shari'ah Department. A presentation was given during the meeting on applying for the year 1437/1348H. It was attended by Dean of the College Dr. Ghazi al-Otaibi, Vice-Dean Mohamed Al Sahly, Head of Shari'ah Department Dr. Ra'ed Al Oseiby and Lecturer Taisir Dabloul.

During the meeting, Dr. Assas underscored the admission procedures that included an interview with applications. He said the college is managed by a constellation of specialists who have long experience in the field. They developed a mechanism that creates an attractive academic and scientific environment that gives educational products according to the highest standards.

Dr. al-Otaibi said: "The brand-new idea was created during a visit by a team of auditors from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA). On of their main recommendations, was taking care of the college's outputs to guarantee the positive impacts that touch the community."

He added: "Since then, UQU President has supported the idea until it became a livable reality."

The admission mechanism at Shari'ah department included, for the first time, an admission test for the applicant in addition to the Personality Measurement Test that assesses his ability of thinking and speaking, the dean said, adding the second part of the test is an knowledge quiz. The student takes the test online.

According to Dr. al-Otaibi, a study is underway to apply the new mechanism on admission to the History Department.  He thanked to Dr. Assas on his support and expressed gratitude for Vice-Dean Mohamed Al Sahly, committees and different sections that have taken part in the process to achieve success.
