Dr. Abdullah bin Omar Baveel, Umm Al-Qura University’s President, expressed his thanks and appreciation to King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and his Crown Prince for their precious confidence in appointing him as the University’s President.
During inaugurating the Teaching Staff Forum under the title of (Teaching Fulfills the Vision), organized by the The Deanship of Academic Development and Quality; the UQU President stressed on the necessity of obligating the teaching staff to develop their skills, knowledge and ideas as per the contemporary variables and updates and cope with them in a way that achieves the objectives of the educational process and attract the students to the educational environment inside the University.
He said: “The university teaching staff member faces a fierce competition with the modern technology, which requires effective work on the performance of the educational message towards the students and planting the ideal values inside the university student, out of his/her educational, parental and guiding role.” He added that giving consideration to the teaching staff contributes directly to enhancing the students’ level and promoting the university educational outputs.
The UQU President called on the forum’s participants to develop the performance of the teaching staff in a way that cope with the requirements of the current and future stages. He wished all luck and clear visions that achieve hopes and aspirations that are in line with the Kingdom’s National Transformation Program (NTP) 2030. He lauded the efforts of Dr. Bakri bin M'atooq Assas, the former President of Umm Al-Qura University, and his role in serving the university.
After that, a number of speeches were given, starting with one for Dr. Mohamed bin Jaafar Thabet, the Dean of Academic Development and Quality, in which he highlighted that the forum aims to offer the opportunity to the different segments in the university community to build effective work relations and discuss mutual issues that are of strong relation to the duties of the teaching staff member. This will be done through what is being offered by the forum of opportunities for contact and discussion that would widen the work circle to which the staff member belongs to, help one to acquire experiences and contribute to enriching the university community and developing the educational process to cope with the NTP.
Then, Dr. Hani bin Osman Ghazi, UQU Vice President for Development and Entrepreneurship, made a speech in which he congratulated Dr. Baveel on acquiring the royal confidence and getting the new post. He highlighted that this year’s forum works on developing the educational environment system through workshops, programs, and training and qualification courses to promote the level of the teaching staff member. He added that the forum’s programs represent one of the pillars of the quality system and spreading the culture of innovation and excellence. He then said that the forum is considered a natural extension for the new teaching staff members program that has been established by the university over the last five years.
Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Rashad Srougy, the Vice President for the Educational Affairs, praised the role of the Deanship of Academic Development and Quality and its fruitful cooperation with the educational process system inside the university to raise its outputs’ level.
After that, Dr. Sarah bint Omar Al-Khouli, the UQU Vice President for Female Student Affairs, made a speech in which she tackled the importance of the event and its role in providing the opportunity to the different segments in the university community, represented by the teaching staff members, to build effective work relations and gain expertise to increase their potentials and efficiencies to achieve the objectives.
The accompanying activities to the event were then launched by a general lecture about the role of the university professor in fulfilling the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. This was followed by two panel discussions about showing consideration for individual differences and multiple intelligences in teaching and evaluation for education.
At the end, the UQU President honored the participants in the event from the concerned departments.
